We were asked to design and landscape a cottage garden, it had to be low maintenance and meet the following requirements! 1.) a lawn area to break up the hard landscaping 2.) driveway suitable for two cars to park 3.) An access path from the cottage to the sun room & garage area 4.) Be suitable and practical for dogs to play in 5.) All same level. The result was as follows, We installed a lawn area using artificial turf, As this is practical, low maintenance and looks great all year round. The driveway was constructed out of block paving using a buff coloured sett with a charcoal edging to create a border around the parking area, we think that the colours of the paving setts complimented the brick garage and the patio area stone well, The charcoal sett looked fabulous and was enhanced by the graphite grey paint on the garage and summer house doors/windows. The access path from the rear of the cottage to the garage was created using the indian stone flags saved/recycled from the existing patio area. The indian stone was laid in a random pattern with a gravel border. The gravel, artificial turf and planting introduced texture and additional colour to the garden.
